BATTLEFIELD 4 BETA: FIRST IMPRESSIONS
The next generation of Battlefield is upon us, and this time with an entirely different view.
As a fan of the Battlefield series in particular, I was really worried that Battlefield 4 was going to be just like Battlefield 3 with new maps and a few new additions. After playing the Beta I can confirm that Battlefield 4 is an entirely different game from Battlefield 3 (take that, Call of Duty!). Of course, there are many things that DICE kept the same, but overall, Battlefield has taken a huge step in a different direction.
One of the only complaints anyone has had so far about Battlefield 4 is the new button configurations. As with any other brand new game, it will take a while to get used to. Essentially, I think the button configurations might be easier for us to use in the long run. The thing I found the most frustrating was that I kept pressing the wrong buttons and getting myself killed because the shots weren't firing out of my gun fast enough. After playing the beta a day later, the buttons weren't as big of a problem for me. But of course, as I said, with time this won't be such an issue.
Another one of my issues with the Battlefield 4 Beta is this new concept of "Battlepacks". The only thing that comes to my mind is that I hope I don't have to pay even more money to unlock cool stuff in the game. I'm all for playing through a game and unlocking things as I go, but having to pay extra money to get the only good stuff? No thanks! Another question that comes to mind is, will BF4 Premium members receive special Battlepacks? Will Premium members not have to worry about paying extra for them? We'll hopefully find out soon enough.
There are so many questions left unanswered, and such few days until the game officially releases. I have no doubt in my mind that Battlefield 4 is going to be a success.
